What does social exclusion mean for children?

Abstract

This paper addresses the perceptions, values and visions of the boys and girls under 18 about social exclusion. The meanings given to this concept, the causes and the situations experienced by them and they are analyzed. The information was gathered using two techniques: 12 Focus groups with boys and girls from 9-17 years old about their perceptions and meanings, in Bilbao, Malaga and Madrid. For participants, social exclusion was a primarily relational concept rather than structural, related to the Being and Doing among themselves.
