The abuse against older people

Abstract

The problem of abuse against older people, being a manifestation of the eternal phenomenon of violence among individuals, it has not been fully acknowledge until today. The focus has been directed towards violence against children and women, but it has ignored the carried out on older people, because, usually, it has happened on the inside of families and at the institutional level. The aim of this paper is present the problems for an objective definition of abuse against older people, its prevalence and risk factors which threaten mainly elderly people most vulnerable as the dependents.
