Development of research in Social Work and Social Education in Spain

Abstract

This article aims to analyze the commonalities and divergences in the development of research in two related disciplines and professional areas: Social Work and Social Education. For this purpose historical study and literature review were made in both disciplines. The results show that even sharing the same historical beginning, evolution of research has been more rapid and successful in Social Education. The social challenges of this century show new professional profiles required in Social Work closely linked to research and multidisciplinary work.
